Gunnar Bjorklund

Co-Founder, Chairman

Gunnar Bjorklund is a Co-Founder and Chairman of Phoenix Lake Partners. Gunnar has over three decades of extensive experience operating, investing, and advising companies across various sectors.

 

Before co-founding Phoenix Lake Partners, he founded Insight Eyecare Partners in 2014, a venture to acquire and develop a platform in the eyecare industry. Insight operated Rev360, which provided electronic health records software to over 3,000 eyecare professionals and offered various services to eyecare doctors, while also managing a chain of more than 50 eyecare clinics. Gunnar served as Executive Chairman until a successful exit in 2021.

 

Prior to Insight, Gunnar co-founded and served as Managing Partner at Sverica Capital Management, a firm currently managing $2.2 billion and consistently ranked among the top investment partners for founders in the U.S. Sverica was born out of successful searches Gunnar and his partners executed, which created three separate platform companies: a consolidation of electronic security services companies sold to ADT, an acquisition of Cameraworld.com which was built and successfully sold to an investor consortium including Bain Capital, Greylock, and TCV; and the creation of AccuDocs, a consolidator of document processing and electronic bill presentment operations serving Fortune 500 companies. Earlier in his career, Gunnar worked at American Express and McKinsey & Company.

 

Gunnar currently serves as Lead Independent Director at Ross Stores, Board Chair of Prospect Education, and Board Member at SportRx. He has previously served on numerous other boards, including AccuDocs, Accuvant, Delphon Industries, Dexmet, DocuLynx, iCoat Company, Magellan’s Travel, Quest Education, RestorixHealth, Sheet Music Plus, and 7Summits.

 

Gunnar earned his undergraduate degree from the Stockholm School of Economics and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is currently working on launching a charity to help children learn scuba diving. Outside of work, he enjoys riding motorcycles, deep-sea diving, Latin dance, cooking, gardening, and traveling.

Erik Doctor

Co-Founder, Managing Partner

Erik Doctor is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Phoenix Lake Partners. He has spent his entire career advising and investing in enterprise software and services businesses. 

 

Before co-founding Phoenix Lake Partners, Erik was an investor at Francisco Partners, where he evaluated new investment opportunities and supported portfolio companies with strategic initiatives across finance, go-to-market strategy, and corporate development. While at the firm, he worked with portfolio companies including New Relic, Orchard Software, QGenda, and Renaissance Learning. Earlier in his career, Erik worked in Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan.

 

Erik holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Southern California, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Originally from California, he now lives in San Francisco with his wife. Outside of work, Erik enjoys running, playing golf, and attending live music events.

Jack Bernabei

Co-Founder, Managing Partner

Jack Bernabei is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Phoenix Lake Partners. He has spent his entire career advising and investing in enterprise software and services businesses.

 

Before co-founding Phoenix Lake Partners, Jack was an investor at Accel-KKR, where he analyzed new investment opportunities and supported portfolio companies with strategic finance, sales, and M&A initiatives. At Accel-KKR, he played a key role in the firm’s investment in Loftware and in executing nine add-on acquisitions for portfolio companies Cloud 9 Software, Recurly, Vitu, and Yes Energy. Earlier in his career, Jack worked in the Technology Investment Banking group at William Blair.

Jack holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, graduating with honors. Born and raised in California, he now lives in San Francisco, where he enjoys working out, golfing, skiing, and exploring new restaurants.
